Recently I was invited to our local Beales Department Store by MeMeMe Cosmetics, a UK cruelty-free makeup brand, to check out their brand new beauty counter, and to experience their ‘Christmas Party Look’ makeup selection.
Upon arrival, I was met by the lovely Carlota who immediately handed me a glass of champagne, and sat me down to give my face a glamorous, festive transformation. Needless to say, an A* first impression…
To be perfectly honest, I’d never heard of the brand before. From first seeing the brand when arriving, you could tell from the off this was a standout company, their image being very high-end but products being priced crazily competitively, with all the cruelty-free crepitations you’d hope for a 2017 makeup business.
Recently they’ve slowly started arriving at department stores, disrupting the typical over-priced way of department store makeups with fair priced, and incredibly pigmented makeup. Of course, if you want cheap, head on over to Primark and you’ll be surprised at the quality these days, but this stuff is next level. Being someone fortunate enough to own some high-end makeup, I do know the difference in quality when you spend a little more, and though not with all brands (there are those out there who obviously spend their high margin on packaging and not the product), a select few really are worth the extra money. MeMeMe is the best of both worlds, and I really mean that.
For my base makeup I was given their Flawless-Finish Cream Foundation, in the lightest shade for my oh-so-pale complexion, however, it was still a tad too dark for me, so we decided to use some of their Flawless Concealer to lighten up my face correctly, and finish with their Beat The Blues Highlighter, in Oyster Gold to create what is probably the best contour I have ever achieved – regardless of whether it was deliberate or not, I loved it.
Next, the cheeks. Gone are the days of OTT colour, subtlety being the name of the game with the use of their Cherub’s Blush Cheek & Lip Tint to bring a little colour back to my face, as if I’d been standing in the cold for a couple hours. From there, it was all eyes.
Walking around the rest of the beauty counters I had been pointing out the elaborate eyeshadows to Sophie, a friend of mine, and talking all about my inability to use eyeshadow effectively, so to then leave later that evening with such a work of art of my eyes.. well. I was more than pleased. Carlota started with the Eye Inspire Baked Eyeshadow Quad in Goddess, to give my lids a smokey, yet metallic effect, which was like anything I’d had before.
Eyeliner and Mascara came next, once again I witnessed a master at her work, and though thicker than I would normally go, really complimented the eyeshadow and made it very easy to mimic the many makeup-gurus of Instagram.
Within a matter of a blink, my eyebrows were perfect. The way Carlota made such quick work of them both impressed and depressed me, I’m not sure I’ll ever get them that good again. She used a pairing of MeMeMe’s Arch Angel Brow Gel, and Beautiful Brows Brow Pencil to bring out and accentuate my natural eyebrows. They offer makeup makeovers and I’m really quite tempted to go back every time I need to shoot an outfit because my eyebrows have never looked better.. well.. that and my eyeshadow.
Finally, the lips. The Christmas classic, a glamorous richly red, yet not polished or overdone. I was given their Light Me Up Lip Gloss in Intense, to complete the look. Applied without lip liner, to give an imperfect appearance that has lit up the catwalks as of recent – I loved it.
Altogether, a Christmas look perfect for literally any event. From hitting up the nuggs in McDonald’s for an end-of-the-month date, to attending a ‘this is probably too fancy for me’ black-tie event, it’s honestly just so nice to wear.
The makeup was great, and I’m sure once I’ve had a true go at recreating the look you’ll find endless photos across my social channels, but what was also lovely was simply the event and getting to meet a few local bloggers for the first time. The community around here seems really friendly and warm, and I can’t wait to get to know people more and more people, and to no doubt bump into them at future events.
This isn’t even sponsored, I just really enjoyed the event and the very lovely, very sparkly makeup.
Thanks for inviting me!
PS. Do keep your eyes out for a brand new video on my youtube channel of me recreating this look all by myself!!
